Summary
Tower defense roguelike where you defend your heart against hordes of enemies and defeat the Necromancer using your towers. You can pick up and throw the towers and your heart to defend against enemies. While you aren't able to directly damage enemies you can knock them back with a punch. After beating a level you can choose from three random items that can buff yourself or your towers. There are also optional objectives that the player can choose to complete in return for buffs and items. Currently the game has 10 levels, 8 items, 2 bosses, and 3 optional objectives.
Challenges
The main elements that I had trouble implementing were collision and enemy movement. I am still not happy with the current enemy movement and will probably improve on it later. Another element that was somewhat difficult was balancing the game. I believe that currently it is still too difficult, but there are some items that can break the difficulty entirely so there is a lot that still needs to be tweaked.
Future Plans
- Refactoring the code (currently a lot of spaghetti code)
- Reworking enemy movement
- Adding additional items, enemies, towers and characters
- Adding additional terrain types
- Adding destructible terrain?
- Adding tooltips to the items to explain what they do
- Continuing to balance the game
